HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 18 |
IN HONOR OF CHANCELLOR WILLIAM B. CHANDLER III ON HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE COURT OF CHANCERY. |
WHEREAS, the 146th General Assembly wishes to recognize and express our deepest appreciation to Chancellor William B. Chandler III on his retirement from the Court of Chancery and his 25 years of exceptional service to the Judiciary of the Great State of Delaware;
WHEREAS, the Chancellor matriculated at some of the most prestigious law schools in the country, receiving law degrees from the University of South Carolina School of Law and the Yale Law School;
WHEREAS, the Chancellor has taught at some of the finest institutions in the country, including Vanderbilt, Ohio State, Georgia and Washington University;
WHEREAS, under his leadership and tireless efforts during the past 14 years, the respect for and deference to the Court of Chancery has continued to grow throughout the nation and the world over, solidifying the Court's status as the leading forum for resolution of business law disputes;
WHEREAS, Chancellor Chandler has written many important and influential opinions during his tenure on the bench and is highly respected throughout the legal community;
WHEREAS, in addition to his service to the Judiciary, among other things, Chancellor Chandler also has served our Great State as Legal Counsel to Governor Pierre S. DuPont IV, and as a member of the Board of Pardons.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware hereby extends its deepest gratitude and appreciation to Chancellor Chandler for his many years of public service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives hereby fondly bids farewell to Chancellor Chandler and wishes him the best of luck in the next chapter of his life as he returns to private practice.
