SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 5 |
MARKING THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DELAWARE PARENT TEACHERS ASSOCIATION AND COMMENDING ALL THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN ACTIVE IN THE WORK OF THIS OUTSTANDING ORGANIZATION OVER THE PAST CENTURY. |
WHEREAS,the Delaware Parent Teachers Association was organized and chartered on the 22nd Day of March, 1911 in Dover, Delaware; and
WHEREAS, throughout its one hundred year existence the organization has remained steadfast in its pursuit of its goals and objectives, which include the following:
— promoting the welfare of children and youth in the home, in school, in the community and in the place of worship;
— raising the standards of home life;
— securing adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth;
— bringing into closer relation the home and the school in order that parents and teachers may cooperatein an intelligent way in the education of children and youth; and
— developing between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education; and
WHEREAS,the mission of the Delaware PTA is to be:
— a powerful voice for all children;
— a relevant resource for families and communities; and
— a strong advocate for the education and well-being of every child; and
WHEREAS, the Delaware PTA has a proud record of having been deeply involved from its inception in many efforts and initiatives to improve education and ensure the well-being of Delaware's children; and
WHEREAS, the Delaware PTA has worked hard throughout its history to bring about improvements in the education and training of teachers and to provide them with decent wages and benefits in order to attract and keep good teachers; and
WHEREAS, over the years, the Delaware PTA has worked tirelessly to bring about improvements in the lives of Delaware children and in the quality of educational resources made available to them and, in so doing, to improve the quality of life for all Delawareans;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware that the members to hereby extend to the Delaware PTA and each of its chapters throughout the state the sincere thanks of all Delawareans to all those who have been active in this fine organization over the past century for their untiring efforts to make life better for Delaware children and youth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members extend the hope that the Delaware PTA will enjoy many more years of successful service to our state and its educational system.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a sufficient number of suitable copies of this Senate Resolution be conveyed to the Delaware PTA, upon its passage, for distribution to each of its chapters throughout the state.
SYNOPSIS
This Senate Resolution marks the 100th Anniversary of the Delaware Parent Teachers Association and commends all those who have been active in the valuable work of the organization over the past century. |
