DELAWARE STATE SENATE

147th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 61

COMMEMORATING AND RECOGNIZING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DELAWARE PUBLIC DEFENDER'S OFFICE.



WHEREAS, the Delaware Public Defender's Office was established on July 1, 1964, and will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 1, 2014; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Public Defender's Office employs approximately 78 licensed attorneys and 85 support staff; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Public Defender's Office has been named one of the Top Workplaces in Delaware for the past three years; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Public Defender's Office has represented individuals in need, regardless of age, color, disability, gender, ethnicity, race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, or ability to pay at every stage of the criminal process in both adult and juvenile courts for the past 50 years; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware Public Defender's Office strives to foster respect for all individuals by utilizing bias free decision-making in all aspects of its business.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 147th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House concurring therein, that we do hereby commemorate and recognize the 50th anniversary of the Delaware Public Defender's Office.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be furnished for display at the Delaware Public Defender's Office.


SYNOPSIS

This Concurrent Resolution commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Delaware Public Defender's Office.
