SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 61 |
|
DESIGNATING SEPTEMBER 1, 2016 AS "WESLEY COLLEGE DAY" IN DELAWARE. |
WHEREAS, Wesley College was founded on September 1, 1873; and
WHEREAS, Wesley College is Delaware's oldest private college; and
WHEREAS, Wesley College has been a treasured resource for Delaware throughout its almost 150 year history; and
WHEREAS, Wesley College continues to maintain a high standard of excellence, and was named Delaware's Top "Hidden Gem" in 2015; and
WHEREAS, approximately 1,600 students attend the College's Dover campus each year from 30 states and 18 countries; and
WHEREAS, the College offers 30 bachelor's degrees, 4 associate's degrees, and master's degrees in nursing, education, business administration and environmental science in a multi-denominational, multi-cultural campus setting; and
WHEREAS, consistent with its Methodist heritage, the College affirms meaning and purpose in life through justice, compassion, inclusion and social responsibility that enhance community life and respect for the environment; and
WHEREAS, Wesley College exists to liberate and empower its students with the knowledge, skills, ethical attitudes and capacity for critical thinking needed to achieve personal and professional goals and to contribute to the local and global society;
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the House concurring therein, that September 1, 2016 be proclaimed as "Wesley College Day".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitably prepared copy of this Resolution be presented to Robert E. Clark II, President of Wesley College.
