148th GENERAL ASSEMBLY

SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 16

HONORING MRS. MICHELLE M. WALL OF MIDDLETOWN UPON BEING NAMED NATIONAL MOTHER OF THE YEAR FOR 2016 BY THE ORGANIZATION AMERICAN MOTHERS, INC.



WHEREAS, Mrs. Michelle M. Wall of Middletown, Delaware, has been selected by American Mothers, Inc., as the 2016 National Mother of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wall, the mother of two daughters, was selected from among candidates from around the United States and Puerto Rico because she excels in her role as a mother and as a community leader; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wall was born in San Jose, California, and has resided in eight states, having grown up in a military family, but has been a Delaware resident since 2009; and

WHEREAS, she is a graduate of James Madison University with a degree in Political Science and Political Communications; and

WHEREAS, she began her career as a staff member in the Virginia Governor's Office and has worked for North Carolina State University, the Raleigh News & Observer, and the Arizona Republic; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Wall is a 2014 alumnus of Leadership Delaware and is a volunteer for the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, where she was named 2014 Volunteer of the Year; and

WHEREAS, she was elected in 2015 as a member of the Appoquinimink Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, she is a Girl Scout Troop Leader; and

WHEREAS, early in April, she was named Delaware's Young Mother of the Year for 2016 by the Delaware Chapter of the American Mothers organization, after which she was nominated for the national honor of "Mother of the Year;"

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 148th General Assembly of the State of Delaware that the members do hereby commend Mrs. Michelle M. Wall for her record of service, both as a mother to her two daughters, and as an active community leader, which has resulted in her selection to receive this well-deserved national honor.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate extends warmest congratulations and best wishes to her and to her family.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Wall upon its passage.


SYNOPSIS

This resolution commends and congratulates Mrs. Michelle M. Wall for being named National Mother of the Year for 2016.
