REQUESTING THAT THE DELAWARE SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY, DELAWARE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL AND THE ZERO WASTE WORKING GROUP, WORK WITH ALL INTERESTED PARTIES TO DEVELOP A PLAN WITH PROPOSED LEGISLATION TO BE DELIVERED TO THE SENATE OF THE 147TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN JANUARY OF 2013. |
WHEREAS, it is understood that single use plastic shopping bags are not only an unsightly nuisance but are also a problem for farmers, Public Works departments and a hazard to wildlife; and
WHEREAS, the current law attempting to address this issue is set to sunset in 2014, it is incumbent upon the legislature to address this problem proactively.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware to request that the Delaware Solid Waste Authority, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and the Zero Waste Working Group, work with all interested parties to develop a plan with proposed legislation to be delivered to the Senate of the 147th General Assembly in January of 2013.
