       The Committee on Health Policy (Harrell) recommended the
       following:
       
    1         Senate Amendment (with title amendment)

    3         Between lines 109 and 110
    4  insert:
    5         Section 1. Section 381.0042, Florida Statutes, is amended
    6  to read:
    7         381.0042 Patient care for persons with HIV infection.—The
    8  department may establish human immunodeficiency virus acquired
    9  immune deficiency syndrome patient care networks in each region
   10  of the state where the number numbers of cases of acquired
   11  immune deficiency syndrome and other human immunodeficiency
   12  virus transmission infections justifies the establishment of
   13  cost-effective regional patient care networks. Such networks
   14  shall be delineated by rule of the department which shall take
   15  into account natural trade areas and centers of medical
   16  excellence that specialize in the treatment of human
   17  immunodeficiency virus acquired immune deficiency syndrome, as
   18  well as available federal, state, and other funds. Each patient
   19  care network shall include representation of persons with human
   20  immunodeficiency virus infection; health care providers;
   21  business interests; the department, including, but not limited
   22  to, county health departments; and local units of government.
   23  Each network shall plan for the care and treatment of persons
   24  who have with acquired the human immunodeficiency virus immune
   25  deficiency syndrome and acquired immune deficiency syndrome
   26  related complex in a cost-effective, dignified manner that which
   27  emphasizes outpatient and home care. Once per each year,
   28  beginning April 1989, each network shall make its
   29  recommendations concerning the needs for patient care to the
   30  department.

   33  And the title is amended as follows:
   34         Between lines 2 and 3
   35  insert:
   36         s. 381.0042, F.S.; revising the purpose of patient
   37         care networks from serving patients with acquired
   38         immune deficiency syndrome to those who have acquired
   39         the human immunodeficiency virus; conforming
   40         provisions to changes made by the act; deleting
   41         obsolete language; amending
   42
