6 | system that prompts the driver to inspect the vehicle |
7 | for children before exiting the vehicle; requiring the |
8 | Department of Children and Family Services to adopt |
9 | rules and maintain a list of approved alarm systems; |

12 | Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: |
13 | |
14 | Section 1. This act may be cited as the "Haile Brockington |
15 | Act." |
16 | Section 2. Subsection (10) of section 402.305, Florida |
17 | Statutes, is amended to read: |
18 | 402.305 Licensing standards; child care facilities.- |
19 | (10) TRANSPORTATION SAFETY.- |
20 | (a) Minimum standards shall include requirements for child |
21 | restraints or seat belts in vehicles used by child care |
22 | facilities and large family child care homes to transport |
23 | children, requirements for annual inspections of the vehicles, |
24 | limitations on the number of children in the vehicles, and |
25 | accountability for children being transported. |
26 | (b)1. On or after January 1, 2013, such vehicles must be |
27 | equipped with an alarm system approved by the department which |
28 | prompts the driver to inspect the vehicle for children before |
29 | exiting the vehicle. |
30 | 2. The department shall adopt rules to administer this |
31 | paragraph and shall maintain a list of alarm manufacturers and |
32 | alarm systems that are approved to be installed in such |
33 | vehicles. |
34 | Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2012. |
