A bill to be entitled
2An act relating to consumer protection; amending s.
3501.005, F.S.; requiring the Department of Corrections to
4provide each inmate in a correctional facility the
5opportunity to place a security freeze on his or her
6consumer report; requiring the department, at the request
7of the inmate, to provide the appropriate forms to the
8inmate to initiate the security freeze process; requiring
9that the inmate pay all fees and expenses incurred in the
10application for a security freeze; providing an effective
11date.

13Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15 Section 1. Subsection (18) is added to section 501.005,
16Florida Statutes, to read:
17 501.005 Consumer report security freeze.-
18 (18) The Department of Corrections shall provide each
19inmate in a correctional facility the opportunity to place a
20security freeze on his or her consumer report pursuant to this
21section. The department shall, at the request of the inmate,
22provide the appropriate forms to the inmate to initiate the
23security freeze process. All fees and expenses incurred in the
24application for a security freeze shall be paid by the inmate.
25 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
