Florida Senate - 2025 SB 490 By Senator Collins 14-00882-25 2025490__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to concealed carry licensing 3 requirements for law enforcement officers, 4 correctional officers, and military servicemembers; 5 amending s. 790.051, F.S.; providing that law 6 enforcement officers, correctional officers, and 7 military servicemembers are considered to be in 8 compliance with concealed weapons and concealed 9 firearms licensing requirements with valid 10 identification; providing an effective date. 11 12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13 14 Section 1. Section 790.051, Florida Statutes, is amended to 15 read: 16 790.051Exemption fromLicensing requirements for;law 17 enforcement officers, correctional officers, and military 18 servicemembers.— 19 (1) Law enforcement officers are exempt from the licensing 20 and penal provisions of this chapter when acting at any time 21 within the scope or course of their official duties or when 22 acting at any time in the line of or performance of duty. 23 (2) A law enforcement officer as defined in s. 943.10(1), a 24 correctional officer as defined in s. 943.10(2), or a 25 servicemember of the United States Armed Forces as defined in s. 26 250.01 satisfies the requirements of s. 790.06(2) and is 27 considered to be licensed to carry concealed weapons or 28 concealed firearms for the purposes of this chapter with valid 29 employer-issued identification indicating that he or she is such 30 an officer or servicemember. 31 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2025.
