Florida Senate - 2011 SB 500 By Senator Oelrich 14-00712-11 2011500__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to state university fee exemptions; 3 providing a short title; amending s. 1009.25, F.S.; 4 providing exemption from the payment of tuition and 5 fees for students enrolled in certain foreign language 6 courses offered at a state university; providing for 7 repeal unless reviewed and reenacted by the 8 Legislature; providing an effective date. 9 10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 11 12 Section 1. This act may be cited as the “Student Global 13 Economic Education Act.” 14 Section 2. Subsection (4) is added to section 1009.25, 15 Florida Statutes, to read: 16 1009.25 Fee exemptions.— 17 (4) A student who has taken an initial semester course in 18 Mandarin or Portuguese at a state university and has received a 19 grade of B or higher for the course shall be exempt from the 20 payment of tuition and fees for each additional course in the 21 same language in which the student is enrolled at a state 22 university. This subsection is repealed July 1, 2016, unless 23 reviewed and reenacted by the Legislature before that date. 24 Section 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
