Florida Senate - 2018 SB 558 By Senator Campbell 38-00556-18 2018558__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to emergency power for health care 3 facilities; creating s. 408.822, F.S.; requiring 4 certain health care facilities to have an operational 5 generator and a supply of fuel which meet certain 6 criteria by a specified date; providing an effective 7 date. 8 9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 10 11 Section 1. Section 408.822, Florida Statutes, is created to 12 read: 13 408.822 Emergency power.—Before January 1, 2019, all 14 facilities subject to this part which provide overnight care 15 must have onsite an operational generator and a supply of fuel 16 sufficient to sustain the generator for a minimum of 96 hours 17 during a power outage. The generator must provide enough 18 electricity to maintain day-to-day living conditions throughout 19 the entire facility. 20 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
