    2         An act relating to youth athletic coaches; amending s.
    3         943.0438, F.S.; requiring certain sanctioning bodies
    4         to disqualify a person from acting as a coach for the
    5         remainder of the season if that person is removed from
    6         a game by an official; providing for an appeal;
    7         providing an effective date.

    9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   10  
   11         Section 1. Paragraph (e) is added to subsection (2) of
   12  section 943.0438, Florida Statutes, to read:
   13         943.0438 Athletic coaches for independent sanctioning
   14  authorities.—
   15         (2) An independent sanctioning authority shall:
   16         (e) Disqualify a person from serving as an athletic coach
   17  of a team in which any team member is 12 years of age or
   18  younger, for the remainder of the team’s season, if such coach
   19  is suspended, ejected, or otherwise removed from a game by a
   20  game official. Upon receiving notification of such suspension, a
   21  coach may appeal the suspension to the local sanctioning
   22  authority. The authority must render a decision and notify the
   23  coach of its decision within 1 week after receiving a notice of
   24  appeal.
   25         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
