1                        A bill to be entitled 
2         An act relating to the University of South Florida St. 
3         Petersburg; authorizing the Board of Trustees of the 
4         University of South Florida to increase the aggregate 
5         sum of activity and service, health, and athletic fees 
6         to exceed the 5 percent cap on annual increases for 
7         the purpose of increasing the activity and service fee 
8         at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg; 
9         requiring that revenue from the increase in the 
10         activity and service fee be used to construct and 
11         operate a multipurpose campus center on the University 
12         of South Florida St. Petersburg campus; requiring that 
13         any proposed increase in the fee be approved by the 
14         activity and service fee committee; providing an 
15         effective date.

17  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 
18 
19         Section 1. Notwithstanding s. 1009.24(4)(d), Florida 
20  Statutes, the Board of Trustees of the University of South 
21  Florida may increase the aggregate sum of activity and service, 
22  health, and athletic fees to exceed the 5 percent cap on annual 
23  increases to such fees for the 2010-2011 fiscal year for the 
24  purpose of increasing the activity and service fee at the 
25  University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Revenue generated by 
26  the increase in the activity and service fee shall be used to 
27  construct and operate a multipurpose campus center on the 
28  University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus. Any proposed 
29  increase in the fee must be approved by the university’s 
30  activity and service fee committee pursuant to s. 1009.24(10), 
31  Florida Statutes. 
32         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
