Florida Senate - 2017 SB 1182 By Senator Book 32-01252-17 20171182__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to rape crisis centers; amending s. 3 90.5035, F.S.; revising the definitions of the terms 4 “rape crisis center” and “trained volunteer”; 5 providing an effective date. 6 7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8 9 Section 1. Paragraphs (a) and (c) of subsection (1) of 10 section 90.5035, Florida Statutes, are amended to read: 11 90.5035 Sexual assault counselor-victim privilege.— 12 (1) For purposes of this section: 13 (a) A “rape crisis center” is any public or private agency 14 that offers assistance to victims of sexual assault or sexual 15 battery and their families and that is certified by, or in the 16 process of being certified by, the Florida Council Against 17 Sexual Violence. 18 (c) A “trained volunteer” is a person who volunteers at a 19 rape crisis center, has completed 30 hours of training in 20 assisting victims of sexual violence as required by the Florida 21 Council Against Sexual Violenceand related topics provided by22the rape crisis center, is supervised by members of the staff of 23 the rape crisis center, and is included on a list of volunteers 24 that is maintained by the rape crisis center. 25 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2017.
