Florida Senate - 2015 (NP) SR 1590 By Senator Sobel 33-02189-15 20151590__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing and commending the 2015 JCC 3 Maccabi Games and ArtsFest for their significance in 4 this state and the South Florida community. 5 6 WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi Games is the second largest 7 organized sports program for Jewish teenagers in the world, in 8 which 2,000 athletes, including a Broward County delegation of 9 300 athletes, between the ages of 13 and 16 learn the value of 10 teamwork, integrity, cultural pride, and community, and 11 WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi ArtsFest is a unique program that 12 aims to inspire Jewish teenagers to develop their individuality 13 through workshops, performance exhibitions, community service, 14 and social activities, and 15 WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi Games and ArtsFest have a 16 tremendously positive impact on the Broward County community by 17 creating a lasting legacy throughout South Florida and 18 generating approximately $1.8 million to boost Broward County’s 19 economy, and 20 WHEREAS, the JCC Maccabi Games and ArtsFest include the JCC 21 Cares program, a hands-on civic service project based on the 22 tradition of individuals giving back to their community in a 23 helpful, meaningful, and proactive way, and 24 WHEREAS, the David Posnack Jewish Community Center in 25 Broward County is honored to be a host for the 2015 JCC Maccabi 26 Games and ArtsFest, which will be held August 9-14, 2015, making 27 a positive difference in the lives of the youth in this state, 28 nation, and world, NOW, THEREFORE, 29 30 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 31 32 That the 2015 JCC Maccabi Games and ArtsFest are commended 33 and recognized for their significance in this state and the 34 South Florida community. 35 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution, with 36 the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to the David 37 Posnack Jewish Community Center as a tangible token of the 38 sentiments of the Florida Senate.
