    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to dentistry; amending s. 466.006,
    3         F.S.; providing that an applicant who has maintained
    4         his or her dental license in good standing in another
    5         state for a specified number of years immediately
    6         before applying to take the licensing examinations to
    7         practice dentistry in this state is entitled to take
    8         such examinations; providing an effective date.

   10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   11  
   12         Section 1. Subsection (3) of section 466.006, Florida
   13  Statutes, is amended to read:
   14         466.006 Examination of dentists.—
   15         (3)(a)Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b), if an
   16  applicant is a graduate of a dental college or school not
   17  accredited in accordance with paragraph (2)(b) or of a dental
   18  college or school not approved by the board, the applicant is
   19  shall not be entitled to take the examinations required in this
   20  section to practice dentistry until she or he satisfies one of
   21  the following:
   22         1.(a) Completes a program of study, as defined by the board
   23  by rule, at an accredited American dental school and
   24  demonstrates receipt of a D.D.S. or D.M.D. from that said
   25  school; or
   26         2.(b) Completes a 2-year supplemental dental education
   27  program at an accredited dental school and receives a dental
   28  diploma, degree, or certificate as evidence of program
   29  completion.
   30         (b) An applicant who has maintained his or her dental
   31  license in good standing in another state for 3 years
   32  immediately before applying to take the examinations required in
   33  this section to practice dentistry in this state is entitled to
   34  take such examinations.
   35         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2011.
