Florida Senate - 2013 SB 1610 By Senator Thompson 12-01469-13 20131610__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to adult general education student 3 fees; amending s. 1009.22, F.S.; revising student fees 4 for adult general education programs; deleting the 5 assessment of block tuition; providing an effective 6 date. 7 8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 10 Section 1. Paragraph (c) of subsection (3) of section 11 1009.22, Florida Statutes, is amended to read: 12 1009.22 Workforce education postsecondary student fees.— 13 (3) 14 (c)1. Effective July 1, 2011, for programs leading to a 15 career certificate or an applied technology diploma, the 16 standard tuition shall be $2.22 per contact hour for residents 17 and nonresidents and the out-of-state fee shall be $6.66 per 18 contact hour. 19 2. Effective July 1, 2013, for adult general education 20 programs, the standard tuition shall be $0.83 per contact hour 21 for residents and nonresidents and the out-of-state fee shall be 22 $2.49 per contact houra block tuition of $45 per half year or23$30 per term shall be assessed for residents and nonresidents,24and the out-of-state fee shall be $135 per half year or $90 per25term. Each district school board and Florida College System26institution board of trustees shall adopt policies and27procedures for the collection of and accounting for the28expenditure of the block tuition. All funds received from the29block tuition shall be used only for adult general education30programs. Students enrolled in adult general education programs 31 may not be assessed the fees authorized in subsection (5), 32 subsection (6), or subsection (7). 33 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2013.
