Florida Senate - 2014 (NP) SR 1756 By Senator Brandes 22-04219-14 20141756__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing the inaugural year of the 3 Florida Inventors Hall of Fame, located at the 4 University of South Florida in Tampa. 5 6 WHEREAS, Florida is a state where innovation, research, and 7 discovery thrive and where great American inventors, such as 8 Thomas Edison, have lived and worked, and 9 WHEREAS, the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame endeavors to 10 encourage individuals of all ages and backgrounds to strive 11 toward the betterment of Florida and society through continuous, 12 groundbreaking innovation, and 13 WHEREAS, the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame is located at 14 the University of South Florida in order to honor and celebrate 15 the inventors from this state whose achievements have advanced 16 the quality of life of all Americans, and 17 WHEREAS, the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame will be one of 18 only seven state inventors halls of fame in the nation which 19 will recognize the best and brightest inventors from their 20 respective states, and 21 WHEREAS, the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame is led by an 22 advisory board consisting of exceptional individuals from the 23 private and public sectors and academia, and 24 WHEREAS, the inductees to the Florida Inventors Hall of 25 Fame will be chosen by a selection committee composed of equally 26 distinguished members, and 27 WHEREAS, the inaugural class of inventors inducted to the 28 Florida Inventors Hall of Fame will be recognized in September 29 2014, NOW, THEREFORE, 30 31 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 32 33 That the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame is recognized on 34 the occasion of its inaugural year for its commitment to 35 honoring inventors and celebrating innovation, discovery, and 36 excellence in this state and that the University of South 37 Florida is commended for founding this institution. 38 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be 39 provided to the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame for display as 40 recognition of the Senate’s support of innovation in Florida.
