BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Part 1 of Article 1 of Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to general provisions for juvenile proceedings, so
as to provide that a retired juvenile court judge may perform marriage
ceremonies; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Part
1 of Article 1 of Chapter 11 of Title 15 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to general provisions for juvenile proceedings, is amended
by adding a new Code section to read as follows:
"15-11-16.
A
retired juvenile court judge of any county of this state shall be vested with
the same authority as an active judge of this state for the purpose of
performing marriage ceremonies. For purposes of this Code section, a retired
juvenile court judge shall be one who has served not less than eight
years."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
