BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 10-1-782 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to definitions relative to the "Georgia Lemon Law," so as to revise the
definition of the term "consumer" for purposes of such law; to provide an
effective date; to provide for applicability; to repeal conflicting laws; and
for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 10-1-782 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to
definitions relative to the "Georgia Lemon Law," is amended by revising
paragraph (5) as follows:
"(5)
'Consumer' means
each
any
of the following:
(A)
A person who purchases or leases a new motor vehicle for personal, family, or
household use and not for the purpose of selling or leasing the new motor
vehicle to another person;
and
(B)
A person who purchases or leases ten or fewer new motor vehicles a year for
business purposes other than limousine rental
services;
or
(C)
Any branch, department, agency, board, bureau, or commission of Georgia state
government; any political subdivision of this state; or any state or local
government authority in this state which purchases or leases a new motor vehicle
for official use."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval and shall apply to new motor vehicles
purchased or leased on or after such date.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
