BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 35-8-8 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to
requirements for appointment or certification of persons as peace officers, so
as to modify certain requirements pertaining to employment or certification as a
peace officer; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 35-8-8 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to
requirements for appointment or certification of persons as peace officers, is
amended by revising paragraph (7) of subsection (a) as follows:
"(7)
Be found, after examination by a licensed
physician,
or
surgeon, or
advanced practice registered nurse, to be
free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions which might adversely
affect his or her exercising the powers or duties of a peace officer;
and"
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
