BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Code Section 19-11-9.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating
to the duty to furnish information about child support obligors to the
Department of Human Resources, so as to prohibit requiring a person who has
never had a social security number to obtain one; to provide for related
matters; to provide for an effective date; to repeal conflicting laws; and for
other purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Code
Section 19-11-9.1 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the
duty to furnish information about child support obligors to the Department of
Human Resources, is amended by adding a new paragraph to subsection (a.1) to
read as follows:
"(4)
Nothing in paragraphs (1) and (2) of this subsection shall be construed to
require a person who lawfully does not have a social security number to obtain a
social security number. The Department of Driver Services and the Department of
Natural Resources shall not deny the issuance of a license to a person,
otherwise eligible to receive the license, who lawfully does not have a social
security number. A person who lawfully does not have a social security number
shall prepare a sworn affidavit stating that he or she is lawfully present in
the United States, otherwise eligible to receive the license, and lawfully has
never had a social security
number."
SECTION
2.
This
Act shall become effective upon its approval by the Governor or upon its
becoming law without such approval.
SECTION
3.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
