RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Tiffani Alexander; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Tiffani Alexander of Covington, Georgia, has earned national recognition by
being honored with the 2011 Prudential Spirit of Community Award and has been
named one of the top two youth volunteers in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
established in 1995 by Prudential Financial and the National Association of
Secondary School Principals, the Prudential Spirit of Community Award honors
young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary
commitment to service in their community; and
WHEREAS,
a home-schooled eighth grader, Tiffani created and presided over a "bug club"
for children at a child abuse prevention center, where she shares her knowledge
and passion for entomology with the children of Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale;
and
WHEREAS,
for her project, "Butterflies, Beetles, and Bees, Oh My!," Tiffani planned and
organized age-appropriate lessons, caught insects to share with the children,
and brought her own pet beetles, Jersey and Huron, to classes; and
WHEREAS,
the success of the State of Georgia, the strength of communities, and the
vitality of this nation depend heavily upon the service of young people and
their willingness to devote their time, energy, and talent to others;
and
WHEREAS,
Tiffani represents the true spirit of service, peer leadership, and
responsibility, and the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation to the
future of this bright and promising young student.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Tiffani Alexander's incredible community service to this state
and extend congratulations for being recognized with the 2011 Prudential Spirit
of Community Award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Tiffani
Alexander.
