A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Christopher James, Cobb County School System's Teacher of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most important objective of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, nothing is more vital to the future of our state than the education of our young people, and Mr. Christopher James exemplifies the selfless dedication which is characteristic of our finest educators; and

WHEREAS, Mr. James is a highly respected educator in the Cobb County School System, dedicating his time, talents, and energy to challenging and inspiring the future leaders of this state; and

WHEREAS, Mr. James has earned distinction for teaching excellence as a result of his dedication to the students of Osborne High School in Marietta, as a special education teacher and where he has been honored as the 2011 Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, in addition to being chosen as Teacher of the Year at Osborne High School, Mr. James was selected as Teacher of the Year for the entire Cobb County School System; and

WHEREAS, his dedicated efforts make exceptional education students realize their full potential for learning and for succeeding in life, regardless of their limitations; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and committed educator, Mr. James was chosen among 8,000 educators in the district and stands as an example of the fine educators in Cobb County and Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. James is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State, began his teaching career in 2006, and in addition to his work in the classroom, he challenges the students of Osborne High School as a tennis and cheerleading coach and provides support as a sponsor of the prom and dance team committee; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his contributions to the education and welfare of young people in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary accomplishments and academic achievements of this outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend heartily Mr. Christopher James, the 2011 Cobb County Teacher of the Year, and express to him their sincere best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Christopher James.
