A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Wilfred James "Jack" Jacques; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mr. Wilfred James "Jack" Jacques on October 13, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jacques was born on May 5, 1932, in Ontario, Canada, a beloved son of the late Wilfred James Jacques, Sr., and Almeda Buie Jacques; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from the University of Georgia Law School, where he played football and ran track, earned a doctoral degree from Harvard School of Business, and obtained a master of tax law degree from the University of New York; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jacques diligently and conscientiously devoted his time, talents, and energy to higher education as the Dean of Longwood College Business School in Farmville, Virginia, prior to moving to Waycross, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Jacques was united in love and marriage to the late Aleece S. Jacques and was blessed with the love and support of his children, Will and Liz Jacques, and his grandchildren, Louise Jacques and Ancil Jacques; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Jacques will long be remembered for his love of family and friendship, and this loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Wilfred James "Jack" Jacques and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Wilfred James "Jack" Jacques.
