RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Susan Harman Alou; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Susan Harman Alou was born on October 11, 1934, in McKeesport,
Pennsylvania, and serves as an inspiration to her many family members, friends,
and neighbors, who have the great pleasure of knowing her; and
WHEREAS,
a graduate of Clarks Summit-Abington High School in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Alou
served in the Women's Army Corps as a control tower operator during the Korean
Conflict and earned a bachelor's degree from Oglethorpe University;
and
WHEREAS,
she had a distinguished career in banking, earning numerous honors and accolades
in an area that was dominated by men at the time, including a listing in
Who's Who of American
Women, and served as an active member of
the National Association of Accountants and on the Oglethorpe University Alumni
Board of Directors for 14 years; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Alou was united in love and marriage to Lieutenant David P. Moss in 1955
and has been blessed with two remarkable children, Marjorie Moss Clark and
Charles David Moss; and
WHEREAS,
she is the proud grandmother of 13: Joshua Stephen Clark, Caleb John Clark,
Esther Clark Weathers, David Timothy Clark, Luke Jeremiah Clark, Zachary
Christopher Moss, Micah Paul Clark, Tabitha Ruth Clark, Jacob Earl Moss,
Priscilla Faith Clark, Titus Haggai Clark, Boaz Matthew Clark, and Christian
James Moss; and
WHEREAS,
her delightful great-grandchildren include Joshua Stephen Clark, Jr., Moriah
Faith Clark, Brianna Joy Clark, Levi Hunt Clark, and Lila McDuffie Clark;
and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the
foundation and framework of success in which her family members have developed
and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Alou is a faithful member of New Prospect United Methodist Church in Buford
and has traveled to 49 states, 33 countries, and five continents;
and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Alou possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the
strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges
of life; and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Susan Harman Alou for her dedicated service to her family
and community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Susan
Harman Alou.
