A RESOLUTION


Commending Ms. Pam Williams, the 2011 Georgia Teacher of the Year; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most important objective of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her dedication to challenging the future leaders of this state, Ms. Pam Williams has been named the 2011 Georgia Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, as Georgia's Teacher of the Year, Ms. Williams will represent Georgia teachers by speaking to the public about the teaching profession and conducting workshops and programs for educators; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Williams earned a bachelor's degree from Brewton Parker College and master's and specialist degrees from Georgia Southern University; and

WHEREAS, this highly respected educator began her teaching career in 1991 at Bacon County Middle School, taught sixth grade at Fourth District Elementary, and language arts, reading, and Georgia studies at Appling County Middle School for 13 years; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Williams has been teaching economics and American government at Appling County High School for four years where her students appreciate her ability to break down difficult concepts into simple lessons to ease understanding; and

WHEREAS, her teaching philosophy focuses on respect and responsibility, and she stresses the importance of two-way communication in her classroom; and

WHEREAS, her enthusiasm and passion for the subjects she teaches radiates throughout her lessons and inspires her students to achieve their utmost potential; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the education and welfare of young people in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary accomplishments and academic achievements of this outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend heartily Ms. Pam Williams, the 2011 Georgia Teacher of the Year, and express to her their sincerest best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Pam Williams.
