RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church (HIEC) is holding a Requiem Mass to honor the
children who lost their lives to abuse and violence in the State of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
this will be the second year HIEC is holding this service, and it is the
intention of the people of Holy Innocents' that the Requiem Mass be held
annually to remember the innocent children of our day, celebrate their lives in
the resurrection, and proclaim the love and reconciling grace of God;
and
WHEREAS,
an average of four children die each day from child abuse and neglect in the
United States, and 80 percent of these victims are children younger than four
years of age; and
WHEREAS,
on this day of remembrance, Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church urges all citizens
of Georgia to be aware of the continuing impact of violence and abuse on
Georgia's children and youth; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message
of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for its innumerable good works
rendered on behalf of children and youths in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Holy Innocents' Episcopal Church for its annual Requiem Mass
honoring the lives of children lost to abuse and violence, extend their most
sincere commendations on the dedication of its annual Requiem Mass service, and
wish its congregation continued growth and prosperity.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Holy
Innocents' Episcopal Church.
