RESOLUTION
Urging
the Governor and Lieutenant Governor should the budget allow for it to base a
Georgia Film Commission in Savannah-Chatham, Georgia; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Film Commission promotes economic development opportunity in the
entertainment industry; and
WHEREAS,
their goal is to continue to raise capital that will educate, empower, and
inspire the regional population to build a new regional economy by diversifying
and offering their resources to a lucrative, clean industry, to empower a new
mind set of artistic and social inclusiveness through the support of the arts
that will develop and create better jobs, homes, health care, cultural pride,
race relations, education, and the opportunity to be a part of the 21st Century
artistic economic culture, and to create an investment community in
Savannah-Chatham, Georgia, inspiring local and regional investors, bankers and
entrepreneurs, all with one objective which is financing low-budget movie
projects; and
WHEREAS,
there is a significant growth in this industry in Georgia including $689.3
million in investments from television networks, studios, production companies,
and independent producers and $2.4 billion of economic impact correlating to
these investments; and
WHEREAS,
there are numerous benefits by spreading the Georgia Film Commission to
Savannah-Chatham, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Film Commission desires to work harder and build itself to ensure
that their projects provide for the economy as well as job
opportunities.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body urge the Governor and Lieutenant Governor should the budget allow for
it to form a Georgia Film Commission in Savannah-Chatham, Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Governor
and Lieutenant Governor.
