RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Joseph Gregory Taylor; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the untimely passing of Mr. Joseph Gregory Taylor on January 10, 2010;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Taylor was born on July 10, 1954, a beloved son of the late Nell Gillespie
and Vestal C. Taylor, Jr.; and
WHEREAS,
he was a State Farm Insurance agent and devoted his free time to improving the
lives of his neighbors of Columbus and Harris County, Georgia, as a coach for
girls softball teams, a member of the Jaycees and Kiwanis, a church youth
leader, and a volunteer for Open Door and Valley Rescue; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Taylor served as Deputy Chief of the Antioch Volunteer Fire Department in
Harris County and was instrumental in securing funding for the modernization of
trucks and equipment for the Mountain Hill Volunteer Fire Department, where he
dedicated many years of his time; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Taylor was united in love and marriage to his adoring wife, Keely, and was
blessed with the love of three daughters, Jennifer, Angela, and Stephanie; a
step-son, James; a son-in-law, Jimmy; and two grandchildren, Kali and Taylor;
and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Taylor was known for his wonderful stories, his sense of humor, his generous
heart, and his desire to uplift others through his actions and words;
and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and intelligent man, Mr. Taylor will long be remembered for his
love of family and friendship, and this loyal husband, father, brother,
grandfather, and neighbor will be missed by all who had the great fortune of
knowing him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Joseph Gregory Taylor and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Joseph Gregory Taylor.
