RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Hasan Shriners Barbeque Festival as a qualifier for the Jack Daniels BBQ
Championship competition; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the 10th annual Hasan Shriners Barbeque Festival will be held on March 19-20,
2010, beside the beautiful Hasan Shrine Building in Albany, Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
the Hasan Shriners Barbeque Festival is a registered contest of the Florida
Barbecue Association, a prestigious recognition that elevates the Hasan Barbeque
Cook-off to a select group of contests held throughout the United States;
and
WHEREAS,
this significant Georgia event is designed to generate funds for the Hasan
Shriners and their important civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS,
on this fine weekend in Georgia, barbeque afficionados will gather to show off
their culinary craftsmanship and highly refined skills in the consummate art of
animal cookery and toil over their creations in hopes of being named champion of
the que; and
WHEREAS,
the 10th annual Hasan Shriners Barbeque Festival not only provides a competitive
Barbeque Cook-off with some of the most delicious barbecue in the nation, but
also hosts a wealth of family activities including live music and entertainment,
arts and crafts, and great family fun for all ages; and
WHEREAS,
this festival is an immensely popular event that attracts competitors, judges,
vendors, musicians, artists, and tourists from all parts of Georgia as well as
throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS,
the 2010 gathering is sure to be a joyous event marked with mouth-watering
excitement and anticipation; and
WHEREAS,
the annual Hasan Shriners Festival provides wholesome family entertainment while
also giving tremendous support to Georgia's local communities, and it is only
fitting and proper that this event be officially recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the 10th annual Hasan Shriners Barbeque Festival as a
qualifier for the Jack Daniels BBQ competition and extend best wishes to the
competitors and attendees of this fine event.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Hasan
Shriners Barbeque Festival and the Mayor of the City of Albany.
