RESOLUTION
Commending
Gwen Desselle; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Gwen Desselle is widely recognized throughout this state as the personification
of excellence in education; and
WHEREAS,
this highly respected professional educator has served with honor and
distinction as a teacher for 32 years and specializes in teaching social
sciences and world and United States history with a concentration on teaching
inclusion classes that combine regular and special education instruction at
Colquitt County High School; and
WHEREAS,
she believes that her continuing role as a teacher is to act as an instrument of
inspiration and enthusiasm to her pupils and to create a positive learning
environment by connecting with her students through technology as well as
utilizing her gift as a storyteller; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her outstanding achievements, she has been named the 2010
Georgia Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS,
she is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual
education professionals are making on the quality of education received by the
children of this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her
superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Gwen Desselle for her many years of
sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education
in Georgia and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures
of countless young people in this state; congratulate her upon being named the
2010 Georgia Teacher of the Year; and extend to her their most sincere best
wishes for health and happiness in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Gwen
Desselle.
