RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending 2012 Heart of the Community Award Winner Greg Sumner; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Greg Sumner's reputation for community service and selfless dedication to others
has been recognized by the Heart of the Community Foundation, Inc., and the
Redmond Regional Medical Center with a 2012 Heart of the Community Award;
and
WHEREAS,
founded in 1987, the Heart of the Community Foundation Award honors community
leaders, with more than 150 individuals recognized for their altruistic service;
and
WHEREAS,
Greg Sumner has uplifted the Rome community through his involvement in numerous
organizations, including chairman of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce,
Rome-Floyd County Development Authority, the Northwest Georgia Police Academy,
and the Design Committee of the Rome Downtown Development Authority, and member
of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS,
a veteran, he was a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty in Operation
Desert Storm; and
WHEREAS,
he received a bachelor's degree in forensic science and a master's degree in
criminal justice from Jacksonville State University and a doctorate degree in
human services from Walden University; and
WHEREAS,
the benevolent and honorable deeds of this charitable man serve as a shining
example of volunteerism, and the State of Georgia is honored and blessed to have
Greg Sumner as a citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Greg Sumner on his outstanding community service and
congratulate him on his receipt of the prestigious 2012 Heart of the Community
Award.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Greg Sumner.
