RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Effingham County Hussars Chapter 2285 on the occasion of its
50th anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Effingham County Hussars Chapter 2285 is part of the United Daughters of the
Confederacy General Organization, which was established in 1894; and
WHEREAS,
the Effingham County Hussars Chapter 2285 was organized on March 28, 1960, with
21 members who joined together to honor the history of the South and further the
ideals of southern womanhood; and
WHEREAS,
the chapter is named for the Effingham military unit organized in 1846 in
Springfield, Georgia, and works diligently to pay homage to the memory of its
gallant Confederate fathers; and
WHEREAS,
with a motto of "Think, Love, Pray, Dare, Live," the chapter has compiled an
unparalleled record of service to the Effingham community and supports numerous
charitable causes and organizations; and
WHEREAS,
a lasting achievement of the efforts of this prestigious organization is the
erection of a marble Confederate monument on the grounds of the Effingham County
Courthouse, which was unveiled on April 20, 1923; and
WHEREAS,
the commitment and dedication of the Effingham County Hussars Chapter 2285 and
its many members have been amply demonstrated in its 50 years; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding work of this fine
organization and its numerous contributions to the citizens of this state be
appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Effingham County Hussars Chapter 2285 for 50 years of
service to the State of Georgia and congratulate its members on the occasion of
its 50th anniversary.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Effingham
County Hussars Chapter 2285.
