RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Janulyn Yvette Lennon; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Janulyn Yvette Lennon is currently the Interim Director of Security at
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where she provides leadership
and direction; and
WHEREAS,
she is the first woman to hold this position and is in charge of maintaining a
safe and secure environment for nearly 90 million passengers and 58,000
employees annually; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Lennon received a Bachelor of Science in pre-law from North Carolina Central
University and a Master of Science in criminal justice administration summa cum
laude from Coppin State University; and
WHEREAS,
she was previously a deputy superintendent of a certified direct supervision
regional jail in Hanover, Virginia; and
WHEREAS,
she serves on the advisory boards for Today's Black Woman Incorporated and Vital
Healthcare Group and is a member of various organizations, including the
American Society for Industrial Security, the American Association of Airport
Executives, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and Word of Faith Love
Center; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Lennon is the proud mother of two remarkable sons, Khyle and Khris, whom she
enjoys spending quality time with; and
WHEREAS,
she has received countless awards and accolades for her personal and
professional accomplishments and has been featured in articles in various
publications, including "Providing Topflight Security" in
Rolling
Out magazine, "Corporate Brass Section" in
the 9th and 13th editions of
Who's Who in Black
Atlanta, "Ex-Warden Digs In Her Heels at
Hartsfield-Jackson" in
Hartsfield-Jackson
News, "Cleared for Take Off" in
Atlanta
Tribune magazine, and "Alumna Credits
Coppin for Her Success" in
The
Talon; and
WHEREAS,
she was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame as a second degree black
belt and is a former Alvin Ailey dance scholarship recipient; and
WHEREAS,
it is fitting that this body express its appreciation to Ms. Lennon for the
great credit she reflects on her community and this state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that members of this
body commend Ms. Janulyn Yvette Lennon for her outstanding service and her many
important contributions to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and
the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Janulyn
Yvette Lennon.
