A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. William T. Nimmer; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. William T. Nimmer has long been recognized by this nation for the vital role he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of this nation; and

WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Army as an intelligence analyst and Vietnamese linguist from 1992 to 1997, during which time he was a Distinguished Honor Graduate and received the Dr. Martin Kellogg Award for his exceptional understanding of a foreign language and culture; and

WHEREAS, from 2002 to 2005 Mr. Nimmer was employed with the United States Department of State as a special agent with the diplomatic security service where he was assigned to the Mobile Security Division, the Department of State's worldwide emergency tactical response unit, and had multiple operational deployments to Africa, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia to conduct high-threat security operations, train United States diplomatic staff, and provide specialized security support; and

WHEREAS, while employed as a special agent, Mr. Nimmer was honored with the Director's Award for Exemplary Performance and completed specialized training in advanced firearms, combat medicine, high-performance and off-road driving, self-defense, close-quarters combat, SERE school, and improvised explosive device familiarity, construction, and detonation; and

WHEREAS, since 2005, Mr. Nimmer has been assigned as a foreign service officer and political officer with the United States Department of State, supporting the United States Embassy to Tunisia with an emphasis on bilateral counterterrorism programs from 2005 to 2008, the United States Embassy to Lebanon from 2008 to 2010, the United States Embassy to Iraq with emphasis on northern Iraq political and counterterrorism issues from 2010 to 2011, and currently the United States foreign policy efforts throughout the Middle East and North Africa, including direct oversight and management of critical national security issues spanning the Gulf States and Arabian Peninsula; and

WHEREAS, he has been honored numerous times as a foreign service officer and political officer for the United States Department of State, including the recipient of four awards for outstanding contributions for identifying key regional issues driving United States foreign policy and two awards for outstanding contributions to the Embassy mission; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of this nation as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service with the United States Department of State; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished man be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. William T. Nimmer for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the United States Department of State and this nation.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. William T. Nimmer.
