RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Georgia Association of Educators; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Education Association and the Georgia Teachers and Education
Association merged in 1969 to establish the Georgia Association of Educators
(GAE); and
WHEREAS,
the GAE is the oldest organization in Georgia to represent school employees in
every public school district in Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the GAE has been actively working with the state to improve public schools for
40 years; and
WHEREAS,
the GAE represents public school teachers, administrators, education support
personnel, retired educators, and college students and faculty; and
WHEREAS,
the GAE supports efforts to protect the health and safety of all children and
public school employees; and
WHEREAS,
this outstanding organization advocates stalwartly for positive changes in
public education; and
WHEREAS,
the GAE works diligently and untiringly to empower educators to make a
difference in the lives of children and improve Georgia's public schools;
and
WHEREAS,
the GAE continues to support efforts to attract and retain well qualified,
prepared educators to teach every child in Georgia's public schools in order to
prepare children for the jobs of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS,
the GAE advocates to protect and expand the rights and benefits of all school
employees; and
WHEREAS, the GAE annually conducts a legislative conference providing an opportunity for GAE members from every school district to discuss legislative priorities with members of the Georgia General Assembly.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize March 30, 2010, as GAE Legislative Conference Day at the
state capitol and convey all the accolades and appreciation possible to
acknowledge the dedicated hard work of every public school employee in
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia
Association of Educators.
