RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. P. Douglas McKittrick; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. P. Douglas McKittrick has long been recognized for his outstanding
leadership, teaching, and training skills and his deep concern for the welfare
of others; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. McKittrick served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with
the United States Army, valiantly and courageously protecting his fellow
Americans for 20 years and retiring as a lieutenant colonel; and
WHEREAS,
he earned a bachelor's degree from Wheaton College, a master's degree from
Emerson College, a doctoral degree from Trinity College and Seminary, and
graduated from the United States Army Command and General Staff College;
and
WHEREAS,
Dr. McKittrick has served as an associate professor of military science at
Georgetown University and taught students at Clayton State University;
and
WHEREAS,
for the last 15 years, Dr. McKittrick has challenged the future leaders of this
nation at DeVry University as a senior professor, curriculum chairperson,
associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and an academic
affairs specialist; and
WHEREAS,
he has been recognized with numerous honors and accolades for both his military
service and his career in education, including a Legion of Merit, a Bronze Star,
a Meritorious Service Medal with an oak leaf cluster, an Army Commendation Medal
with two oak leaf clusters, a National Defense Service Medal with a star, and a
Humanitarian Service Medal; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Dr. P. Douglas McKittrick for his willingness to sacrifice
his own personal safety and comfort to ensure the well-being of his fellow man
and commend his selfless, effective, and dedicated service to the field of
education.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. P.
Douglas McKittrick.
