A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Ms. Donna Elizabeth Tillman; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Ms. Donna Elizabeth Tillman on February 22, 2012;
and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Tillman was born on November 21, 1959, in Moultrie, a beloved daughter of
Ronald Edward Tillman and Shirley Ann Watson Tillman; and
WHEREAS,
she is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and was a package
driver with UPS for 33 years; and
WHEREAS,
she receive numerous honors, including the James E. Casey Community Service
Award in 2006 and 2007, the Becky Mann Volunteer of the Year in 2006 from the
City of Tifton, the Tifton Gazette 2010 Reader's Choice Award, and the U.S.
President's Volunteer Service Award in 2010; and
WHEREAS,
Ms. Tillman was a P.O.S.T. certified police officer, certified firefighter and
first responder, and a volunteer at the Harding Fire Department;
and
WHEREAS,
she headed up "Santa's Bags" charity, was a founding member of the Georgia
Wildlife Rescue Association, and a volunteer for Relay for Life;
and
WHEREAS,
she was the proud mother of a remarkable daughter, Brooke, with whom she enjoyed
hunting, camping, and traveling; and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous woman, Ms. Tillman will long be remembered for her
love of family and friendship, and this loyal daughter, mother, and friend will
be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Ms. Donna Elizabeth Tillman
and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Ms. Donna Elizabeth Tillman.
