RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Buford High School literary team on winning the 2011 Class AA
State Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Buford High School literary team won their fourth consecutive state
championship, making this their sixth state championship win in the past eight
years; and
WHEREAS,
the Buford High School literary team placed in a total of nine out of ten events
with a final score of 46 points; and
WHEREAS,
first place winners and state champions from the Buford High School literary
team included Amanda Hicks for girls essay, Alec McQuade for boys extemporaneous
speaking, Caitlin Hollis for girls extemporaneous speaking, Rosa Campos for
girls dramatic interpretation, and Hallie Skelton, Madison Tankersley, and
Amalie Gee for girls trio; and
WHEREAS,
second place winner and state runner up in boys essay was Grant Hall; the Buford
High School quartet, comprising Brandon Cheatham, Noah Haines, Alex Fowler, and
Rob Hunter finished third in the state in boys quartet; Noah Haines finished
third in the state in boys solo; and Michael Grieve finished fourth in the state
in boys dramatic interpretation; and
WHEREAS,
the team's spectacular season reflects the astute guidance and direction of Fine
Arts Coordinator Chris Fowler and Assistant Coaches Kim Staples, Tim Harris, and
Joy Fowler; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned their well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of practice, it is abundantly
proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Buford High School literary team on winning the 2011 Class
AA State Championship and extend to them best wishes on all their future
endeavors.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Buford
High School literary team.
