A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Chad and Julie Carlton; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Chad and Julie Carlton are one of three couples named runners up for the Young
Farmer and Rancher Achievement Award by the American Farm Bureau Federation
(AFBF); and
WHEREAS,
this most prestigious award recognizes young farmers and ranchers age 35 or
younger who have excelled in their farm operations and exhibited superior
leadership abilities; and
WHEREAS,
the Carltons raise free-range laying hens and sell the eggs directly to
consumers and restaurants in the metropolitan Atlanta area as well as raise a
herd of grass-fed beef cattle and free-range turkeys and blueberries; and
WHEREAS,
their flock of 4,000 hens produces around 1,050 dozen eggs a week and are
delivered to Atlanta area customers three times a week; and
WHEREAS,
Chad graduated from Berry College with a bachelor's degree in animal science and
a master's degree in business administration and Julie works full time as a
pharmacist when not spending time on the farm; and
WHEREAS,
the Carltons' leadership and guidance have been invaluable to the Polk County
Farm Bureau and they are both members of Georgia Organics; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
these distinguished Georgians be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Chad and Julie Carlton for their dedication and commitment
to farming and congratulate them upon their recognition by the American Farm
Bureau Federation.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Chad and
Julie Carlton.
