A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Gordon Lee High School wrestling team on winning the
2011-2012 State Championships; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Gordon Lee High School wrestling team demonstrated a feat of greatness with
amazing performances to clinch the state championship title; and
WHEREAS,
the Gordon High School wrestling team were Class A Area Dual Runner-ups and
Class A State Dual Champions in January of 2012 and State Traditional Runner-ups
in February of 2012; and
WHEREAS,
the state champion team included Jonathan Ragsdale, Stihl Lance, Chase Wood,
Mika Clark, Alex Spires, Will Jacks, Kory Almond, Sydney Rhinehart, Dylan
Skipper, Grayson Dunn, Ethan West, Shane Farmer, Clayton Reeves, Corey Jewell,
Dallas Alder, Jake Hovey, Dallas Goodlet, Ty Mosses, Clay Whitley, Brandon
Murphy, Co-Captain Blake Clayton, Co-Captain Jonathan Bettis, and Captain Jordan
Douglas Queen; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; and
WHEREAS,
the Gordon Lee High School wrestling team could not have accomplished their
victory without the assistance of managers Payton Byrd, Cassi Martin, Reagan
Brown, and Mikayla Lewis; assistant coaches Rickey Murdock, Bob Wilson, Bert
Bradford; and head coach Brent Raby; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent team performed with precision throughout the season, and these
wrestlers have come to earn their well-deserved reputation for high standards of
athletic achievement, quality of play, and superior sportsmanship.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OR REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Gordon Lee High School wrestling team for its unparalleled
achievements and congratulate the wrestlers, coaches, assistant coaches, and
managers on their state title.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Gordon
Lee High School wrestling team.
