RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Godwin Olajide Onabanjo; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Godwin Olajide Onabanjo was born on June 7, 1919, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun, the
eldest son of the late Jonathan Osineye Onabanjo and Edith Adenoiki Onabanjo;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Onabanjo attended King's College in Lagos on an academic scholarship and was
one of only two students in his class to pass the senior Cambridge Examination
with exemption from London Matriculation; and
WHEREAS,
after his graduation from King's College, Mr. Onabanjo was offered an immediate
appointment with the Audit Department in Lagos; and
WHEREAS,
after many years of hard work and dedication with the Department, Mr. Onabanjo
was offered a scholarship to undergo a course of instruction in the United
Kingdom; and
WHEREAS,
in 1960, Mr. Onabanjo qualified as a Chartered Secretary and joined the firm of
Akintola Williams & Company as an audit clerk, moving up the ranks to
company secretary; and
WHEREAS,
from 1964 through 1971 Mr. Onabanjo served as the head of the Secretarial
Department before resigning to form his own secretarial company named Alliance
Secretaries Limited; and
WHEREAS,
the impressive accomplishments of this distinguished gentleman are worthy of
recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that members of this
body commend Mr. Godwin Olajide Onabanjo for his magnanimous strength and
unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness,
and his many great achievements.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Godwin
Olajide Onabanjo.
