RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Brookwood High School football team on winning the 2010 GHSA Class AAAAA
State Championship and inviting them to be recognized by the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
through training, talent, and iron will, the Brookwood High School football team
earned the top ranking in the state with their 52-38 win over Colquitt County
High School; and
WHEREAS,
the talented 2010 Broncos tied the school's record for wins with 14 and set a
new Brookwood record for total points scored with 534; and
WHEREAS,
after winning the Region 8-AAAAA championship for the fourth time in six years,
the mighty Broncos reached the state playoffs for the ninth consecutive year,
where they scored the third highest number of points ever in a Georgia State
Championship game; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of head coach Mark Crews; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Brookwood High School football team for winning the
2010 GHSA Class AAAAA State Championship, extend their sincere best wishes for
future success, and invite them to be recognized by the House of Representatives
at a date and time to be designated by the Speaker of the House of
Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to head coach of
the 2010 Brookwood High School football team, Mark Crews.
