RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Donald H. Norris for his outstanding public service; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Donald H. Norris served as a member of the Oconee County Board of
Commissioners and has the longest consecutive service record in the history of
Oconee County, with over 20 years of dedication; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Norris graduated from the University of Georgia and has been a licensed
multilines insurance adjuster since 1962; and
WHEREAS,
during his tenure, Mr. Norris has been a champion for Oconee County citizens,
responsible for initiating senior citizen tax relief legislation;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Norris has played a vital role in the expansion of Oconee County, his work
with the Board of Commissioners having paved the way for the construction of a
$10 million jail and the creation of a $12 million parks and recreation
facility; and
WHEREAS,
this resident of Bogart, Georgia, and his wife, Donetta, are active members of
Mars Hill Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS,
this dedicated public servant is a member of numerous associations, including
the Oconee County Warrior Booster Club, the Athens Area Homebuilders
Association, the Oconee County Farm Bureau, the Oconee County Rotary Club, the
Georgia Cattlemen's Association, and the Oconee County Recreation Committee;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Norris continually works towards the betterment of others in his role as
president of M & K, Inc., a scholarship fund created to assist Oconee County
High School graduates; and
WHEREAS,
it is fitting that this body express its appreciation to Mr. Norris for the
great credit he reflects on his community and this state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Mr. Donald H. Norris for his outstanding public service and
his many important contributions to Oconee County and the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Donald H.
Norris.
