A RESOLUTION


Recognizing Ms. Beverly Hall and inviting her to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Beverly Hall has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in the teaching profession and her deep personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Hall serves as superintendent of Atlanta schools and has been named the nation's top superintendent by the American Association of School Administrators; and

WHEREAS, since Ms. Hall became Atlanta's Superintendent in 1999, the city's schools have seen an increase in graduation rates, improved test scores, and enhanced teacher training; and

WHEREAS, during her tenure as superintendent, Atlanta School System's on-time graduation rate rose from 39 percent in 2002 to an amazing 72 percent in 2008; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the students of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues, associates, students, and community; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the students in this state, it is abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Ms. Beverly Hall for her sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Ms. Beverly Hall is invited to appear before the House of Representatives at an appropriate date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House to receive a copy of this resolution.
