A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Ford Retiree Timex Club on the occasion of their 5th annual
Christmas banquet; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
on December 10, 2010, members of the Ford Retiree Timex Club gathered in College
Park, Georgia, to celebrate the holiday season at their 5th annual Christmas
banquet; and
WHEREAS,
this year's event honored the retired women from the Atlanta Ford UAW Assembly
Plant, countless women who have guided the course of Ford Motor Company's
history with their unwavering determination; and
WHEREAS,
the Ford Retiree Timex Club was established ten years ago in order to provide a
way for Ford retirees to stay in touch and connected with their former
colleagues; and
WHEREAS,
what began as a breakfast gathering of James W. Wright and 15 other former Ford
workers at an I-HOP across from the Hapeville plant has grown into a well
organized association of retired employees that meets once a month;
and
WHEREAS,
in May of 2000, the Ford Retiree Timex Club was officially named in honor of the
retirees who "take a licking and keep on ticking"; and
WHEREAS,
the Ford Retiree Timex Club is a group of amazing men and women who donate their
time, talents, and energy to uplifting the lives of others; and
WHEREAS,
this remarkable organization bands together for both Ford retirees and current
employees during times of bereavement, sickness, and celebration;
and
WHEREAS,
at the 2010 Christmas banquet, the pioneering women of Ford that were honored
included Jeffie Bass, Mary Brewer, Delores Caskey, Marcia Conley, Rosaline
Dandridge, Juanita Daniel, Frances Eason, Charlie M. Finch, Patricia Harp,
Martill Holloway, Rita Jackson, Susie James, Patricia Johnson, Sandra Leavell,
Sabrina McMillon, Barbara Nelson, Geneva Pettiford, Sara Powell, Iris Rucker,
Laura Smith, Linda Smith, Oddie B. Smith, Belinda Stephens, Deborah Sumling, and
Ann J. Vaughn; and
WHEREAS,
the Ford Retiree Timex Club and the retired women from the Atlanta Ford UAW
Assembly Plant have established a legacy of service and commitment that is
worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Ford Retiree Timex Club and commend the hard work and
dedication of the retired women from the Atlanta Ford UAW Assembly
Plant.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the 2010 Ford
Retiree Timex Club honorees.
