A RESOLUTION


Honoring and celebrating the 80th birthday of Mrs. Annie Carter; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Annie Carter was born in Anniston, Alabama, on March 7, 1929, one of ten beloved children of James and Fannie Cunningham; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carter was united in love and marriage to the late Reverend L.L. Carter on October 24, 1954, and the couple was blessed with a devoted and loving daughter, Vernetta Carter Gamble; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of her family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, she is a woman of deep and abiding faith who has been a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia, for the past 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carter has committed her life to the education of the youth of Georgia, dedicating 34 years to the Muscogee County School Board and several years at Marshall Junior High School; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Carter enjoys spending time with her family, including her two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in commending Mrs. Annie Carter on the occasion of her 80th birthday and wishing her many more years of happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Annie Carter.
