A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mr. Alan Fahring; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mr. Alan Fahring on February 27, 2009; and

WHEREAS, born in Salina, Kansas, a beloved son of Philo and Lois Fahring, Mr. Fahring graduated from Salina High School and held a bachelor's degree from Kansas Wesleyan Univeristy and master's and specialist's degrees from Kansas University; and

WHEREAS, a talented athlete, Mr. Fahring served as a dedicated, encouraging, and passionate coach at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fahring had a distinguished career in the coaching field, inspiring and molding athletes throughout Kansas and Georgia at Kansas Wesleyan University, Ottawa University, Great Bend High School, Kansas State University, Sullivan East High School, DeKalb High School, Fayetteville High School, North Gwinnett High School, and Collins High School; and

WHEREAS, his influence and guidance were felt by his players and with sports facilities named in honor of this Civil War historian at Fayetteville High School and Collins Hill High School; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fahring was united in love and marriage for 36 wonderful years to Dianne Rupert Fahring and was surrounded by the love of his son, Todd, his daughter-in-law, Maci, and his delightful granddaughters, Allyn Marie and Mary Hollis; and

WHEREAS, this beloved coach had an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS, all who had the privilege of knowing Mr. Fahring join his family in mourning their loss and hold tight the memories of wonderful times shared with him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body hereby joins in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Alan Fahring and expressing its appreciation for his many contributions to his community and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Alan Fahring.
